Andrea Shafer’s journey originally began as a law student dreaming of a career in international law. Now, nearly 15 years later, she’s the first vice president of legal at Cambridge. Andrea’s road to success has taken a few twists and turns, including different roles. But, they’ve all had two things in common; hard work and perseverance.
As one of the youngest members of Cambridge’s leadership team, Andrea highlights how she draws from past experiences to help shape the future for the next generation of financial professionals. She brings a fresh perspective and problem-solving mindset to the table, while navigating our industry’s ever-changing regulatory landscape.

Andrea Shafer joined Cambridge in 2007 and has nearly 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. As first vice president of Legal, she leads the Disclosures and Dispute Resolution, Regulatory Affairs, and Advocacy & Supervision Teams. Additionally, Shafer is highly involved in the firm’s regulatory matters and serves as a member of the Cambridge Investment Committee. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and international relations from Wartburg College and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Iowa College of Law. She holds the FINRA Series 7, 24, and 66 licenses, and is a graduate of Cambridge’s Continuous Improvement Embedded Leaders program.
