Episode 163: A Noble Profession

Brandon Plattner of Plattner Asset Management

“Growth only happens outside of your comfort zone.”

Brandon Plattner got his start in the financial services a littler earlier than most. At age 14, Brandon began studying the stock market to gain a better understanding of the financial landscape. He later opened his own commodities and equity accounts and began trading stocks, commodities, and options on the side while working for his family’s insulation business in the summer. Today, Brandon is the owner of Plattner Asset Management in Peoria, Illinois, where he works with clients to develop smart investing strategies and achieve financial goals. He is also making an impact on new financial professionals through his work on the Cambridge New Century Council, a group that works with Cambridge to identify resources financial professionals need to attract and serve next gen investors.

In Episode 163: A Noble Profession, Brandon joins Cambridge CEO Amy Webber to discuss:

  • Why he decided to begin studying the stock market at age 14

  • How he uses technology and technical analysis to serve clients

  • Why he decided to pursue independence in 2010

  • How he and his colleagues on the Cambridge New Century Council are shaping the industry
