Wessels, Nearman Receive Honorable Mention in Invest in Others Awards

In its 16th year, the Invest in Others awards program honors financial professionals and firms making an impact in their community

Fairfield, IA July 13, 2022 – Cambridge congratulates financial professionals James Wessels, CPA/PFS, CFA, of Vision Financial Group and Steve Nearman of Nearman Financial Consulting, Inc. for receiving honorable mention in the 2022 Invest in Others Charitable Foundation Awards. An Invest in Others judging panel evaluated hundreds of candidates and selected a group of finalists and 15 honorable mentions in each of five nomination categories. Winners will be announced on September 29 at an award ceremony in Boston.

Invest in Others recognizes the philanthropic achievements of financial professionals and financial firms in communities around the country. The awards program is in its 16th year, and honors nominees for their leadership, dedication, and charitable contributions. The program features five award categories: Catalyst, Community Service, Emerging Impact, Volunteer of the Year, and Lifetime Achievement.

Wessels and Nearman each received $1,750 for their chosen charities. Wessels was named an honorable mention in the Lifetime Achievement category, which recognizes financial professionals who have made a profound contribution to a non-profit organization over a period of at least 20 years. Nearman was named an honorable mention in the Catalyst category, which recognizes financial professionals who have sparked positive change and displayed entrepreneurial leadership to a nonprofit organization for at least three years.

Wessels is a partner and financial advisor at Vision Financial Group in Des Moines, Iowa. He is representing Central Iowa Shelter & Service, where he serves on the Board of Directors as treasurer. Central Iowa Shelter & Service provides low-barrier shelter, meals, and support services at no cost to adults experiencing homelessness. The shelter was founded in 1992 after a group of five men died sleeping outside one frigid night in Des Moines. All guests and residents are provided evening and breakfast meals, access to shower and laundry facilities, a weekly medical clinic, group counseling, life skills instruction, and more.

Nearman is the President and CEO at Nearman Financial Consulting, Inc. in Plymouth, Massachusetts. His selected charity is The Great Blizzards of Massachusetts, a hockey program he founded in 2019 to support athletes with cognitive or developmental disabilities who aren’t able to play elsewhere. The program teaches the fundamentals of the game and features friendly, experienced coaches.
