Chad Cooper Receives 2021 NAIFA Diversity Champion Award

Cambridge financial professional honored for commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

FAIRFIELD, IA and ALBUQUERQUE, NM – December 8, 2021 – Cambridge congratulates Chad Cooper of Gateway Financial Advisors for being named the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) 2021 Diversity Champion. This award recognizes exceptional efforts to promote the full and equal participation of diverse people within the insurance and financial advising profession. Cooper was recently recognized on December 6 at the NAIFA National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.

Cooper has been a member of NAIFA since 2018 and has a history of outstanding commitment to his community. Cooper worked to develop a program of monthly seminars addressing the financial concerns of African Americans in 2003. He has since become a leading advocate for financial literacy and awareness, currently offering a literacy program to lower-income residents in his Albuquerque community through the African American Greater Chamber of Commerce (AAGACC) — an organization to which he serves as a Vice-chair on the board of directors.

To be considered for this award, a Diversity Champion must be a member of NAIFA in good standing and have at least five years of experience in the insurance and financial services industry. Nominees are evaluated based on the following criteria:  

  • Creates a workplace environment that encourages diversity and inclusion 
  • Raises awareness and facilitates communication within the financial services industry and the community involving diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • Supports inclusion and encourages diverse individuals to reach their professional goals
  • Fosters awareness and a commitment to diversity and inclusion within the NAIFA membership
  • Provides insurance and financial services in under-served and diverse markets
